De poolwisselaar gemaakt door Ericsson werd gebruikt om van een gelijkspanning een wisselspanning te maken. Dit gebeurde meestal als er een telefooninstallatie was met een accubatterij als backupsysteem. Er kon dan toch nog intern gebeld worden.
